Survey of New Castle Common Lands, 1704


Do any marker trees survive?

It IS possible that trees mature enough to be used as markers in 1704 might survive 300 years. However, development has occurred where at least 12 of the 17 trees stood. Only School lane, the woods next to the little league field on Rte 273 and the woods by the Carrie Downie School have a slim chance of holding a survivor. Certainly worth an explore!
